Starting Over

Starting Over

This is a new challenge for me. I am going to start trying to write more frequently and with less filter than I have ever done before. I normally spend a lot of time reading, rereading, editing, re-editing something I write before giving it to anyone else to read. My new blog posts are going to be a practice of picking a topic and writing about somewhat quickly.

I take this task up as I am currently a PhD Student trying to finish my research. Some call the phase I am in ABD (Anything But Dissertation), but I actually am not trying to avoid my research at all. There are certain challenges I have been experiencing that I will leave to discuss at another time, but I think taking on another challenge such as this could be good for me. I have kept journals before and have been more consistent at writing non-work related things, but for a number of years my reading and writing have not been as frequent. Hopefully this changes with this first step.

New starts are great. That feeling you get when there is a fear of not knowing whether or not an idea will work, but also an excitement knowing that you just started down a path that is going to lead you somewhere new. There is the sense of opportunity awaiting you with a new idea you care about that is something that is hard to live without. We are so fortunate to be right here, right now, in this moment. To do something that is meaningful to you is worth more than any worldly thing. For me, writing here is meaningful.

I am not sure exactly how I will structure this blog, but any posts older than this one are imports from previous blogs that I have just conciliated into my new, hopefully permanent, home. I think I will try to focus each post on a specific topic or idea, and then just take it from there.
