Focus of book is on understanding process of visualizing time oriented data, which includes focusing on: “What has to be presented?” “Why does it have to be presented?” and ultimately how is it presented.
Chapter 2 is a review of the history of visualization techniques of time oriented data. Example: Napoleon’s Russian campaign of 1812 by Charles Joseph Minard (1861).
